Grade II listed Georgian cottage in London

Imogen Walford and her husband bought this Grade II listed Georgian workers cottage just south of the Thames near Blackfriars some four years ago. Both are passionate about period detail and were delighted to find a property that hadn't been overly 'modernised'. Against a neutral backdrop of the original panelled walls, the couple's collection of engravings are hung on the walls of the front reception where the window is curtained with Victorian damask and an antique panel of lace screening the room from the street - Imogen's mother is a collector of antique and vintage textiles. Subtle details such as the orange linen lampshades add colour add a warm glow to the room at night. The couple extended the kitchen and dining area combining traditional detail with contemporary style - the floor tiled with worn vintage tiles and the run of painted Shaker style cupboards hiding 21st century necessities such as washing machine and dishwasher, are contrasted by the light and airy feeling created by the expansive glass roof and double glass doors leading to the courtyard garden.
