The owners of Virginia Cottage in the Cotswolds are American and self-confessed urbanites who determined to provide plenty of countryside experience for their two young children with holidays had centred on visits to a ‘charming French property in Normandy’ and converted estate stables in a classic English landscape. Having looked at various rental properties which never quite matched up to the dream a friend suggested viewing a cottage for sale in an area they had come to know well with what they describe as an essential, first rate pub and restaurant within walking distance. ‘We first saw the cottage on a lovely sunny day, it seemed quite spacious but was also compact enough to manage as a second home and best of all it just felt great.’
