Unconventional three floor London apartment

Unconventional use of space is shown in this three floor London apartment created from four flats by interior designer for herself, her husband their 3 three children. The year long project was overseen by architects Jones Lambrell who completely reconfigured the interior and designed and had made bespoke features such as the wood relief surface of the kitchen island unit, the pierced metal staircase balustrade and the corner seating divans. The couple are both avid cooks hence the 5 metre long island unit. They are also collectors of contemporary art and sculpture and work is displayed throughout the apartment. The ground floor living room was organised around the collection of contemporary art, photographic works and sculpture. Furniture ranges from Art Deco to vintage 1950's and 60's. Downstairs, the Poggenpohl kitchen with informal family dining area opens onto the garden. Decorative wrought iron doors can be closed to screen off the adjacent formal dining room. Across the lobby is the family room with gym and study areas beyond. The guest bedroom is on the same floor with new shower room excavated from below street level. The master bedroom suite is subdued and restful - in the adjoining bathroom which incorporates plenty of storage, her more decorative illuminated mirror encapsulates her individualistic approach to design. The twin three year old's shared bedroom leads into the combined playroom and bathroom where the divan beneath the bay window is perfect for naps and story-time.
