R&G Fabrics House

1790's farm cottage near Greenwich, Connecticut USA

What began as a tiny 1790's farm cottage near Greenwich, Connecticut USA is now the gracious family home of the Gould family. Jamie Gould, who like his wife Dale trained as a weaver, is a founding partner and the creative talent in the celebrated fabric company Rogers and Goffigon whose fabrics grace many of the homes featured in top design magazines. R&G are acknowledged masters of natural materials and texture. The 7-acre property needed work but it provided to be exactly what the Goulds were looking for in terms of living and some work space. Working with an architect they set about extending the house in such a sympathetic style that its hard to tell what is new. The grounds, previously just a few apple trees and long grass, were landscaped and planted (the cutting garden features prize winning dahlias) and a cottage and barn restored for use as a bespoke carpet weaving facility and specialist textile weaving. The house of course features R&G fabrics and rugs while the soft natural colouring (paint is Farrow and Ball) is reminiscent of Sweden - most of the furniture is a mix of English, Swedish and French antiques. A number of items were found on the Pimlico Road in London a favourite shopping street. Dale works part time in a shop selling vintage items, blankets, small antiques and curiosities plus she is a photographer who sells her interior and garden images as prints ready to hang.
