Hotelito

Intimate design hotel in Baja California, Mexico.

Having sold her home in LA some six years ago, English interior designer Jenny Armit upped sticks and moved to a quiet coastal town in the Mexican province of Baja California. She bought a plot of land and proceeded to build a chic four bedroom hotel, a one bedroom house for herself, a two bedroom annexe for when her daughters come to stay and a fabulous swimming pool. Admirers of Jenny's bold, assured use of furniture by outstanding American and European designers, and her quirky use of materials won't be disappointed. She designed the single storey house herself creating a spacious living area for entertaining, adjacent to the functional kitchen made from blockwork finished in plaster. Outside is a covered open-air living space with a vast dining table, seating area and fireplace. At the last count Jenny had three horses, three dogs and two goats. The hotel buildings are situated across the courtyard - an open-air bar where breakfast and light meals are served leads through to the inner courtyard around which are built the four guestrooms, Rosa, Azul, Verde and Violetta, each of which contains an iconic piece of modern design from jenny's collection.
